How to setup Emoji keyboard shortcuts in iOS 5 iPhone iPod touch iPad

Are you wondering how you can make it easier to insert Emoji icons inside a text message or even email or even inside your iMessage. Emoji enables emoji icons on your iPhone and your iPod touch. That you can switch between the normal keyboard and the Emoji keyboard, navigating to the emoticon you are looking for, then switching back to the normal keyboard to resume typing can be tiresome. Luckily, you can use Emoji much more efficiently thanks to keyboard shortcuts in iOS 5.

So, before you start doing it, first you need to do is enable the Emoji keyboard from within the settings app.

Step 1: Click the Settings app on your Home screen of iPhone, ipad or ipod touch.
Step 2: Now Tap on General settings.
Step 3: Scroll down and tap Keyboard.
Step 4: Next you need to do is International Keyboards.
Step 5: Now tap the Add New Keyboard.
Step 6: Now on your screen scroll down and scroll until you find the option for Emoji and then tap it.

So now all you have to do is to setup your keyboard which will allow you to switch over to the Emoji keyboard by tapping the small globe next to the 123 button.

Now lets come to our point where you can setup your own keyboard shortcuts keys as you want for emoticons and now that you have the Emoji keyboard enabled.

Now follow the below steps:

Step 1: Now once again Tap over the Settings app on your Home Screen.
Step 2: Once again as we have explained before tap over General settings.
Step 3: Scroll down and tap Keyboard.
Step 4: At the very bottom of the keyboard settings panel, tap Shortcuts.
Step 5: Now tap The + icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
Step 6: In the Phrase field, call up the Emoji Keyboard (see above for instructions) and now select your desired emoticon.
Step 7: Now all you have to do is input the specific shortcut you do like to use for the corresponding emoticon.
