This tutorial will be a basic learning tutorial for beginners who want to start developing iPad applications.The application that we will be creating will consist of two button and one label.<br />

<h2>Outlets and Actions</h2>For things such as labels and textfields we use IBOutlets and for  buttons we use IBActions. IB stands for Interface Builder and is what we  will use to create our interface and link the connections.<br />

<h2>Comments</h2>When posting a comment on a blog, instead of posting a link to your  website, why not link to your Twitter profile? This will increase the  visibility of your Twitter profile on the internet and will probably result in more followers.<br />

<h2>Clothing</h2>If you want to really increase the visibility of your Twitter account in the real world then why not get a shirt or any other kind of clothing printed with your Twitter username, you never know how many followers you may be walking passed each day.<br />
<h2>ReTweet</h2>Retweeting people's links is a great way to get them to follow you,  if somebody Retweets a link of mine and I am not following them, I will  follow them as a way of saying thanks.<br />

<h2>Another Way to Plug Into the Facebook Experience</h2>The <em>Send Dialog</em> function has much more in common with the  Send button than the obvious. Both features are similar in that they  allow users to share private information with others. However, Send  Dialog goes one step further by giving users the ability to share  content as private Facebook, group, or email messages. According to the  social network itself, this feature is even better than the actual  button from an integration standpoint because it enables developers to  make conversation the core functionality of the website or app it is  added to. We agree, but also want to add that the Send Dialog is just  better all around, mainly because of its marketing potential.<br />
Having the freedom to include a personal message with your link adds a  new dimension to Facebook’s sharing feature. Some of the content you  publish on your website is probably self explanatory. For example, if  the content is an article with a descriptive title, a simple link could  be all a visitor needs when sharing it with their friends or colleagues.  On the other hand, a video that is only accompanied by a still preview  image may require a little extra in the form of an explanation to convey  its value to others. When looking at it from this perspective, the Send  Dialog feature benefits the marketer by arming users with a more  effective way to be advocates for their content, which it does by  coupling a messaging element with the already powerful sharing  component.<br />
<h2>Use the Send Dialog Wisely</h2>The Send Dialog function is it sort of like an email, and it would be  best for a marketer to treat it as such. In fact, Facebook says that it  is most appropriate in a situation where a user might share the  information via email otherwise. The company warns that it should not be  used to deliver impersonal communications like in-game status or  invitations, citing that the “Requests” feature is still the best  channel for such actions. For this reason, marketers may need to school  their audience on how to use Send Dialog while stressing the importance  of respecting the privacy of others.<br />
Facebook’s new Send Dialog definitely appears to have a lot of  potential. We can especially see it being useful for marketers with  active audiences looking to add a new element to social sharing. The  feature has already been implemented by a few popular websites, so its  true potential should be revealed in the very near future.

Are you thinking about privacy and looking around me I found that it might be  good to have a little tutorial on a few of the settings available in  the most common of social networks (to date). It also, despite a lot of  flak, does have fairly advanced privacy controls.<br />

You have circles. When you post about your drunken antics on the  weekend, you choose to share this with your “Closest Friends” circle.  When you make a general statement, you choose to make it public and when  you create a limited, non shareable post, well that’s a private  message, not that dissimilar to an email…<br />
On facebook you can have circles as well, but it’s more difficult:<br />

<strong>Ron Wayne, the Apple co-founder who sold his 10 percent stake in  Apple for just $2,300, said in an interview this week that he backed  out of the company because he feared his role would involve shuffling  papers for the rest of his life.</strong><br />

In an interview with <em>Bloomberg Television</em> earlier this week, Wayne and another Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak discussed the early days of the company.<br />
<br />
According to the interview, Steve Jobs brought Wayne on as a "trustable  person." He was given a 10 percent stake to serve as a mediator for Jobs  and Wozniak, who each held 45 percent.<br />
<br />
"He had more of a mature adult mentality and had strong formulas of how  things go and how companies are run and what they do right and what they  do wrong," Wozniak said. "He sat down at a typewriter and typed out all  this legalese, looked like it came from a lawyer for our partnership  agreement. So I was very impressed by Ron."<br />
<br />
Jobs and Wayne had spent "quite a bit of time together" at Atari, where  Jobs worked prior to starting Apple. After learning that Jobs and  Wozniak were planning to start a computer business, Wayne offered his  help. "Steve Jobs was a very dynamic person to start with. He was fun to  be with. We spent quite a bit of time together," Wayne said.<br />

"He had a modest disagreement with Steve Wozniak over some philosophical  issue, and I happened to be there at the time. We had a conversation in  which, successfully, I was able to get the issue resolved," he  continued. "At the moment, Steve Jobs was very impressed with that bit  of diplomacy and suggested immediately that we form a company with he  and Wozniak each having 45% and myself having 10% as a philosophical  tie-breaker in the case of any disputes in the future."<br />

But, just 12 days after Apple was formed in 1976, Wayne sold his stake  for $800, receiving an additional $1,500 later that year in exchange for  forfeiting any claims against the company. Given Apple's current value,  Wayne's 10 percent share would have been worth more than $35 billion  today.<br />

When asked why he pulled out of the company, Wayne said he "knew that  the enterprise would be successful," while noting that nobody could have  predicted the level of success that Apple would go on to reach. "In  addition to that, I think Steve Jobs had an idea in the back of his head  based upon the fact that I had rebuilt the documentation system for  Atari. He was very impressed with the system and certainly wanted to  have that as part of the new enterprise," Wayne went on to say.<br />

"The only problem with that was I could see myself looking ahead in the  future as leading a major office in the back of the company shuffling  papers for the rest of my life. That wasn't exactly the future I had in  mind for myself."<br />
<br />
Wozniak said he was shocked by Wayne's decision, noting that, later in  life, he came to believe that Wayne may have been scared off because of  the potential risks of starting the company without any capital.<br />
<br />
"I figured it was because we were getting parts on credit, building the  computers with no money, and selling them for cash to pay off the  credit. If anything fell through in that plan Steve Jobs had no savings  account or money or friends or relatives with money, and neither did I,  so our adult supervision, Ron, might be on the hook for the money. I  thought that might have scared him off, that he was taking a majority of  the risk and he only got 10%."<br />
<br />
Wayne admitted that the risk had played a part in his decision,  especially given previous experiences as an entrepreneur. Prior to  working with Jobs, he had started a slot machine company that failed.<br />
<br />
"A year or so before I had formed my own corporation and it came to a  kind of sticky end and I spent two years buying my way out of that mess,  and there was the risk involved and whether or not I would be able to  survive if the whole thing blew up," said Wayne.<br />
<br />
He says he doesn't regret the decision, though. "I also realized the  fact that I was standing in the shadow of a couple of really brilliant  guys here the level of my creativity couldn't possibly match theirs. As I  said, I would have wound up doing rather mundane work."<br />
<br />
Wozniak confessed that, since he and Jobs were younger, the risk wasn't  as much of an issue for them. "We went through project after project  after project during my college years, his high school and his college  years, before we started Apple. When it came to starting Apple, boy,  things were gung-ho," he said.<br />
<br />
"Steve Jobs pretty much was so young he didn't need any income and  money, so we just survived on -- it was moonlighting for a while. You do  that out of your house, you do it out of your garage, and it never came  up, 'do we throw in the towel because we are not making any money yet?'  Never came up."<br />
<br />
Wozniak continues to have a bright outlook for Apple as Tim Cook takes over for Jobs, who resigned as CEO on Wednesday  but will remain with the company as Chairman of the Board. "Steve  [Jobs] would not leave this company not feeling it has got a good push  for right now to keep the ways of thinking that lead to the great  products that Steve has employed. He has been an example...Short-term, I  would expect Apple might come up with home run after home run after  home run again."

However, a second person with a proven track record notes that the  production schedules for the first-run campaign isn't slated to wrap up  until the middle of the first week of October.<br />
<br />
While the most recent media reports  have suggested that Apple will introduce the iPhone 5 alongside a  cheaper 8GB iPhone 4 in late September, the timing of the associated ad  spots would appear to lend support to earlier claims that device will  not officially hit the market until the following month.<br />
<br />
In particular, one report from <i>BGR</i>  last week cited an  anonymous AT&T executive as making statements to that end. The exec  reportedly advised team members that things would get "really, really  busy in the next 35-50 days," with the iPhone 5 slated to be introduced  at a late September event and ahead of availability slated for early October.<br />
<br />
A similar report from <i>TiPb</i> pinpointed October 7th as a tentative launch date, which it reported was recently bumped up from October 14th.<i></i>Now believes that both dates remain likely candidates for the official  launch given what's known about the Cupertino-based company's logistics.<br />

It's not unusual for Apple to begin filming its iPhone ad spots more  than a month before it plans to begin selling the handsets. Last year,  the Cupertino-based company began piecing together its first iPhone 4  commercials for the device's FaceTime feature in late May, ahead of the handset's June 24th launch.<br />

Two years earlier, detailed in a series (1, 2)  of reports the production of the first iPhone 3G commercial roughly  five weeks before the second-generation model hit the market on July  11th, 2008.<br />

The option to rent episodes of TV shows is no longer available on either  the Apple TV, or when browsing content via Apple's iTunes application.  Previously, participating networks offered users the ability to rent a  TV episode for 99 cents, with 30 days to begin watching and 48 hours to  complete it.<br />

As further evidence that the ability to rent TV shows has been removed  completely, an Apple support document entitled "iTunes Store: How to  rent TV shows," has been removed from the Web. A Google cache of the  page is still available.<br />
<br />
In addition, Apple's official page  promoting the Apple TV no longer makes any mention of 99-cent TV show  rentals. Users are told that they can rent movies, while the page offers  users the ability to "buy your favorites, instantly" for TV episodes.<br />
<br />
Apple paved the way for the change earlier this month,  when the company added the ability to buy and stream iTunes TV shows on  the Apple TV. Previously, the set-top box was limited only to streaming  rental options, or content that had already been purchased on a Mac or  PC and was saved locally on that system.<br />

<strong>UPDATE</strong>: In a statement  to "AllThingsDigital," Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr said, “iTunes  customers have shown they overwhelmingly prefer buying TV shows. iTunes  in the Cloud lets customers download and watch their past TV purchases  from their iOS devices, Apple TV, Mac or PC allowing them to enjoy their  programming whenever and however they choose.”<br />

Released in 2010, the new Apple TV represented a shift for the company,  as it pushed studios to allow cheaper 99 cent rentals of TV shows,  rather than costlier permanent purchases. But some studios have been reluctant to participate, calling Apple's 99-cent model too inexpensive.<br />

The change to no longer allow rentals seems to suggest that Apple's  experiment never paid off in terms of sales, or gained any new support  from studios. Previously, Fox and ABC were the only two of the "big  four" major U.S. networks that had participated in Apple's streaming  offering.<br />

<strong>Following his ascension to the role of Apple CEO, Tim Cook on  Thursday sent out a company-wide e-mail assuring employees that nothing  will change at Apple and everything will be just like before.</strong><br />
The four-paragraph note from Cook, <a href="http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2011/08/tim-cook-e-mail-to-apple-employees-apple-is-not-going-to-change.ars">obtained by</a> <em>Ars Technica</em>,  aims to address any concerns that employees might have about the  transition. "I want you to be confident that Apple is not going to  change," the new CEO wrote.<br />

He said that the company built by the leaving chief executive, Steve  Jobs, has a "culture that is unlike any in the world." He promised that  Apple will "stay true to that," because it's in the company's DNA.<br />
<br />
"I am confident our best years lie ahead of us and that together we will  continue to make Apple the magical place that it is," Cook wrote.<br />
<br />
The new CEO has been with Apple and worked with Jobs for over 13 years. He is widely regarded as an operational genius who may lack the charisma and vision of Jobs, but many believe can keep the company headed in the right direction.<br />
<br />
Analysts on Wall Street also have few concerns  about Apple in the short-term with Cook at the helm. They view the  transition as a change years in the making, with Apple's deep bench of  executives groomed for a new era without Jobs as CEO.<br />

Though further details regarding the rumored new technology were lacking, some have connected the comments to <a href="http://tipsglobe.com/search/label/apple">Apple</a>'s upcoming AirPlay Mirroring  functionality, which is said to be <a href="http://tipsglobe.com/search/label/ios">iOS</a> 5's "most exciting feature." Motley Fool Senior Technology Analyst Eric Bleeker also views Apple's  opportunity to leverage iOS in the home entertainment arena as a next  step for Cook. According to him, Jobs had already seen the vision of iOS  extending into the living room, and it's up to his successor to execute  it.<br />

He also recommended that Cook, who has fulfilled Jobs' duties as CEO during his medical leave, take over as the chief executive. The board also agreed with Jobs' assessment, and  Tim Cook is now CEO.<br />

"The board has complete confidence that Tim Cook is the right person to be  our next CEO," Levinson said. "Tim's 13 years of service to Apple have  been marked by outstanding performance, and he has demonstrated  remarkable talent and sound judgment in everything he does."<br />

Reuters cites "two people with knowledge of the  matter".<br />

</div>In  addition to this low cost <a href="http://www.tipsglobe.com/search/label/iPhone%204">iPhone 4</a>, Apple is also said to be targeting  "an end of September" launch for the iPhone 5.   This new <a href="http://www.tipsglobe.com/search/label/iPhone%205">iPhone 5</a> will  reportedly look "largely identical" to the iPhone 4, but have a bigger  touch screen, better antenna and an 8-megapixel camera.  This  contradicts many of the <a href="http://www.tipsglobe.com/2011/08/iphone-5-hard-shell-cases-begin-to.html">early case designs</a> that have shown a dramatically different form factor. <br />

This news comes at an interesting time, as we've been hearing more from  suppliers and seeing leaked parts appear on the web.   In addition to  the battery prototype photo, UK repair shop <a href="http://www.ipatchonline.co.uk/">iPatchiPods</a>  had also told us that their suppliers had also relayed that there would  be two such models: a less expensive iPhone 4, as well as the expected  iPhone 5.   Due to the simultaneous development, there could be some  confusion with regard to parts appearing on the net.  While many are  claimed to be for the iPhone 5, there may be some that are intended for  this low-cost iPhone 4.   In one example, the back camera  part that leaked yesterday was found to be a 5 megapixel part, not an 8  megapixel part as rumored.   It's possible the part could be intended  for this cheaper iPhone 4. <br />

In fact, the low-cost iPhone 4 screen is already circulating in the  hands of suppliers, and we are trying to get more information on it and  other potential iPhone 5 parts.

The production and sale of these cases suggests that at least some  Chinese case manufacturers are confident enough in the leaked case  design specifications that they are willing to gamble some amount of  money in creating these early cases.   There is an enormous financial  incentive to have inventory on the launch day of any new Apple device,  as Apple doesn't provide suppliers with detailed designs specifications  until after the public launch of the device.

Techcrunch reports  that at least one developer has found evidence that Apple is testing  the iPhone 5 against current App Store apps.   The logs seem to confirm  that the iPhone 5 (running iOS 5) will be a dual-mode device supporting  both GSM and CDMA in one phone.  <br />

The company said that it will be reducing  the price of its PlayStation 3 gaming console by £30 ($50) worldwide.<br />

The PlayStation 3′s 160 GB version will now be priced £220 in the UK  and $250 in the US. In Japan, the basic console’s price will drop from  29,980 yen to 24,980 yen. The price of the 320 GB version of the console  will drop from £215 ($349) to £183 ($299).<br />
At $249, the PlayStation 3′s 160 GB version is now $351 cheaper than  the console’s original price tag when it was launched in 2006.<br />

“While others in the space are losing steam, PlayStation 3 is gaining  momentum,” said Jack Tretton, president and chief executive officer of  Sony Computer Entertainment America, in a statement. “The new price will  make the PS3 more accessible than ever before.”<br />

EA Sports official twitter account said “FIFA 12 demo out 13  September on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Teams are Barcelona, Arsenal, Man  City, Marseille, Dortmund and AC Milan.” This has prompted a few  questions and much excitement amongst gamers.<br />

In a later update they explained that the games would run for 6  minutes, 3 minutes per half and be played at Manchester Cities Eithad  Stadium. The demo will be launched three weeks before the UK release  date, on 30th September gamers will be able to pick up a copy on all  major platforms.<br />
However, in a slightly controversial move Xbox 360 owners will be  able to play the game three days earlier than PS3 owners. They will be  able to trade in 2000 Microsoft Points to get their hands on the game or  any EA titles, they’ll also be able to buy other downloadable content  at a cheaper rate.<br />
Over the past few weeks and months details about FIFA 12 have started to leak out of the woodwork, we have learnt about the new career mode, pre-orders and of course had our first look at the brand new impact engine.<br />

The new game, called Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, is  expected to hit the shelves in “early 2012″ for Xbox Live Arcade,  PlayStation Network, Steam (Mac and PC) and an unnamed next-generation  gaming console (the Nintendo Wii U?)<br />
The new Counter-Strike game will include new maps, weapons and  characters, as well as updated contents, such as the de_dust map and  other favorites. It will also have new gameplay modes, leaderboards,  match making systems and more features that are yet unannounced.<br />
Valve’s Vice President of Marketing, Doug Lombard, said that the  original Counter-Strike took the whole gaming industry by surprise when  the MOD became the most played PC game in the world following its  release in August 1999.<br />
“For the past 12 years, it has continued to be one of the most-played  games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments and selling  over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO promises  to expand on CS’ award-winning gameplay and deliver it to gamers on the  PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac,” he added.<br />

</div><div style="text-align: justify;">In a research note based on information sourced from an Asian component supplier for Apple's <a href="http://tricktipsworld.blogspot.com/search/label/apple" target="_blank">iPad</a>, Brian has revealed that Apple is well poised to ship as many as 45 million iPads next year. </div><span id="more-196"></span>    <div style="text-align: justify;">  Apple's latest iOS based tablet has already managed to move over 16 million units this year – ever since its launch back in April. Also pertinent to note is the fact that it was just a week ago that <a href="http://www.macrumors.com/2010/10/05/ipad-sees-record-setting-adoption-rate-poised-to-become-4th-largest-electronics-category/" target="_blank">reports</a> of  the iPad becoming the fourth largest consumer electronics category in  the US began to emerge. According to that report, in the US, the iPad  lies just behind behind TVs, smartphones, and notebooks as the fourth  largest consumer electronics category!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Brian's contact also adds that the Asian  component manufacturer shipped 6 million units of the components it  made for the iPad in the third quarter of 2010. The unnamed company  expects to ship 7 million more components in the last quarter. Since one  unit of the component is used in each iPad, this adds up to an  impressive 13 million iPads shipped in the second half of 2011. If we  take in to account the quarter in which the iPad went on sale as well,  when Apple has confirmed that it has sold over 3 million iPads – it  brings the total tally of iPads sold so far to around 16 million. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

His contact claims  that the next generation iPad would be significantly smaller than the  current version. In theory, your network should work just fine as-is, but we all know  that reality can differ from what should ideally be the case. How well  your router performs is going to depend on a lot of factors, so these  tips and tricks might work better for some than others. For example,  strategies for improving your wireless signal aren’t going to do much  unless your router is dealing with some interference. On the other hand,  tweaks can only do so much if you’re dealing with really bad  interference. That said, whether the improvement is marginal or great,  we’re going to look at all sorts of ways to get your network running as  fast and efficiently as possible.<br />
<h3>Use Your Wires Whenever Possible</h3>Wi-Fi  is nice, but it’s rife with signal issues and slower than a wired  ethernet connection–even when Wi-Fi is performing its best. If you can  wire up your devices, you should.  When transferring files between devices you’ll always get better  performance over a wire, and internet connections over 25Mbps (NBN  ahoy!) will also benefit from wires. That may seem strange when many  routers advertise wireless speeds that are much higher, but real-world  performance is generally far lower.<br />
If you can’t wire up your home, powerline ethernet adapters (like <a href="http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=495008">Belkin’s gigabit option</a>)  can be a good alternative. It’s pretty rare that you’ll have a power  line capable of maintaining gigabit speeds, but you may still achieve  better performance than you would over the air with 802.11n. If you want  to give powerline adapters a shot, just buy a set from a store with a  good return policy and see how they work. If they don’t, you can always  take them back. If they do, you can buy as many as you need. Just be  sure to test them on every outlet you’re going to use, since some  outlets work better than others with power line adapters.<br />

<h3>Improve Your Wi-Fi Signal</h3>There are plenty of tricks you can employ to improve your Wi-Fi  signal. Your mileage may vary depending on your situation, but most  methods are pretty easy and worth a look. In this section, we’re going  to take a look at our favourites. They’re all things you can accomplish  with very little effort.<br />

That’s often because most Wi-Fi  routers default to the same channels: 6 or 11. (You don’t need to  understand all of this to fix the problem, but we’ll explain.)  Additionally, the standard channel width is 20 MHz, which means that  even though you’re on channel 6, which has a frequency of 2.437 GHz,  your channel width spans 20 MHz around that frequency. Since each  channel is only 5 MHz apart from the next, your signal is bleeding into  the others. While you can adjust the channel width, this may only help  some of the time as your router’s needs will change. Ideally <a href="http://src.acm.org/raghavendra/raghavendra.html">channel width would be adaptive</a>, but since that isn’t a reality the best thing you can do is pick a channel as far from the others as possible.<br />
wireless network locater <a href="http://tools.meraki.com/stumbler#q=">WiFi Stumbler</a>  is a webapp that provides a simple way to check what channels are in  use in your computer’s range. Simply look for the channel with as much  space around it as possible and use that channel instead of what you’re  currently using. Also note that while you may pick up competing signals  on the same channel, if they’re all very weak that can be a better  choice than choosing a lesser-used channel with a strong, competing  signal.<br />
Basically, if your neighbor’s on channel 1 and a few people down the  block are using channel 4 (and you’re somehow picking up their Wi-Fi),  you’re still probably better off using channel 4 for your Wi-Fi. That  is, unless there’s a huge amount of interference on channel 5. As you  can see it can get a little tricky, but the goal is to pick a channel  that keeps its distance from other signals with the same or overlapping  frequencies.<br />

In theory, if your signal sucks you’d  want to just transmit it as powerfully as possible. In reality, boosting  your router’s transmit power too much can actually make things worse.  But there’s a magic number: 70 mW.<br />
In general, your router’s transmitting at 28 mW, but most routers can handle 70 mW without issue. <a href="http://www.informatione.gmxhome.de/DDWRT/Standard/V23final/help/HWirelessAdvanced.html">According to the DD-WRT documentation</a>,  setting this any higher could fry your router’s radio chip because your  router’s not designed to handle the excess heat. You technically <em>can</em>  turn it all the way up to 251 mW, but if you do you’re just asking for  trouble. If your router overheats, it’s going to perform far worse — or  die. Staying in a safe range may only show marginal improvements, but  that’s much better than a dead router.<br />
Unfortunately most routers don’t allow you to boost your transmit  power, so if you’re not using custom firmware like DD-WRT or Tomato,  you’re probably out of luck on this one. If that includes you, just read  on as the next section can help solve signal issues with virtually any  router.<br />

Say, for example, you  want to video chat while your roommate is downloading a movie. QoS helps  make sure both endeavours have enough bandwidth.here is a quick overview of what you need to do.<br />

First things first, navigate to your router’s QoS page (if it exists —  not all router firmwares have this feature) and enable QoS. That’s not  going to do anything yet, because we have some settings to fill out  first, but I always forget to enable features so I like to do that  first. In your QoS settings you should have a few settings and toggles  to deal with. Here’s a quick look at your options in DD-WRT (note: this  will vary from router to router, but obviously we can’t go over every  single brand’s firmware):<br />
<ul><li><b>WAN, LAN, or Both</b> – Generally QoS is used to handle traffic  from outside your local network, so it defaults to WAN (Wide Area  Network). Unless you have a reason to change it, just leave this setting  as-is.</li>
<li><b>Packet Scheduler</b> – This can be set to HTB or HFSC. HTB is the  default method that uses a “token” system to manage bandwidth. Don’t  change this to HFSC unless you know what you’re doing.</li>
<li><b>Uplink and Downlink</b> – Here you can set a limit for the total  network bandwidth can be used on your network. If you don’t want to max  out your connection, you can set these speeds to less than their  theoretical maximums. DD-WRT recommends 80-95% for uplink and 80-100%  for downlink.</li>
</ul>Once you’ve got those global settings taken care of, you can start  specifying rules. DD-WRT splits these rules up into three categories:  Services, Netmask, and MAC priorities.<br />
<b>Services Priority</b> will let you set bandwidth priorities for  different applications. These applications are pre-set and include  everything from SMTP to BitTorrent to Xbox Live. If a particular service  isn’t listed, you can add it yourself.<br />
<b>Netmask Priority</b> can give bandwidth priority to a range of IP  addresses. For example, if you have three computers that use the IP  addresses 192.168.1.10, 192.168.1.11, 192.168.1.12, you can specify that  range to receive priority. This can be useful if you want to ensure  that your machines will always take priority over any guest computers  that show up on your network.<br />
<b>MAC Priority</b> is a way to set which specific devices receive  priority over others. Here you enter your device’s MAC address (a MAC  address is a unique identifying address for your computer’s network  adaptor) and set a relevant priority.<br />
Once you’ve chosen a service, IP range, or MAC address, and added it  to your priorities list, you have to actually define the priority. By  default the priority will be set to Standard, but you can promote it to  Express or Premium to give it a higher bandwidth priority over other  items on the list. These categories are good for applications that will  sometimes require additional bandwidth, such as video chat and VOIP. You  can also set any item to Exempt to let the app or computer use as much  bandwidth as it wants and Bulk if you want it to only use bandwidth that  is left over from other applications.<br />
After you’ve finished adding all your devices and setting their  priorities, you can save your settings and let your router reboot (if  necessary). That’s really all you have to do to get QoS working.<br />
