"We're going to find Riddick alone for the first part of the movie, barely alive, surrounded by carnivorous monsters who are trying to eat him. So you'll see a futuristic Rambo-esque Riddick trying to survive.
David Twohy is scripting the next installment of Riddick as we speak, and it's underway. The story will return to a Pitch Black [sensibility] while servicing the mythology that's been enhanced in Chronicles of Riddick."
Actor Vin Diesel
Sounds like a great premise, but I kind of wonder why Riddick would have left the Necromonger throne...
Those concept-arts of Riddick 3 look promising.
David Twohy (who wrote and directed the first two films in the series, Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick) will helm Riddick 3 based on a script he wrote. Let's hope they will really deliver a great sci-fi action movie!
Love the concept arts glimpsed in this draft production trailer of Riddick 3!
“Early Riddick concept art… first frame of a 2D Motion Choreography Study.
Grrrr…
The Furian… left for dead..”

This concept art seems to confirm what Vin Diesel previously announced on his Facebook wall regarding the plot of Riddick 3:
“We’re going to find Riddick alone for the first part of the movie, barely alive, surrounded by carnivorous monsters who are trying to eat him. So you’ll see a futuristic Rambo-esque Riddick trying to survive.

Well the project seems on a good track according to those tidbits that Vin Diesel shared on his facebook page:
“The Riddick script is completed… great job DT.” (November 7, 2009)
“The Riddick team is in New Zealand location scouting already… that’s exciting.” (December 1, 2009)
“P.s. The Riddick team has returned from New Zealand, and from the images, it’s no wonder why DT loved it… it’s like a director’s paradise.” (December 6, 2009)

I still wonder why Riddick would have left the Necromonger throne he won in Riddick 2. But I’m kind of happy to know that the franchise goes back to its roots and that Riddick hasn’t become fat king giving orders to his soldiers.

Hope to get more information about the movie Riddick 3 soon!
And with casting news comes character reveals. In the first round of auditions, director David Twohy and his casting director Anne McCarthy are on the lookout for "sexy female mercenary" Dahl, "smug commander" Krone, the undescribed henchman Santana (not Joey, as far as we're aware), and [POSSIBLE SPOILER] Boss Johns, who's the father of the Johns played by Cole Hauser previously, and who's apparently rather keen to learn what happened to his son on Hades.
Moviehole have seen a script of undisclosed age and draft, and are saying that Riddick is much more aligned with Pitch Black than Chronicles, making little or no mention of Furya or the (ahem) Underverse, and quickly dispensing with the business that saw Riddick as leader of an army of (ahem) Necromongers at the end of the last film. There's apparently a small role for Vaako, which might mean Karl Urban will be back for a cameo. And if that lot made us reasonably optimistic, we're slightly concerned at the mention of a twelve-year-old "Alpha Kid", who has magic powers and shiney eyes like Riddick's...
